From a HH patron Sept. 23,07 I wanted to tell you all, what a exciting night last Saturday was.......paint by numbers I tell you.......there was a line up of ladies that wanted to be painted, it was fantastic, free to everybody and this lady who paints knows what she is doing........corsets were painted over naked breasts and the ladies looked so....so......sexy with painted breasts in beautiful colours which men could touch and feel and it looked like a corset so....so.....real. Toronto sex show helps young and old come out of their shells, spice things up By KRISTINE OWRAM MISSISSAUGA, Ont. (CP) - A naked woman sits grinning in front of a large crowd of people as an artist paints a black bikini onto her body. Across the room, men dressed in bondage gear demonstrate the latest in whips. Down the hall, a fit woman dressed in a leotard explains how pole dancing can be a great workout. This was the scene Saturday at The Sex Show, hosted by Erotica Canada. The pavilion was crowded with hundreds of people, young and old, but organizer David Stein said the show is geared towards a slightly older demographic who may need some help spicing up their sex lives. "My dream demographic is a 35-year-old couple with 2.1 children and they haven't jumped each other in three weeks because they're just too damn tired," said Stein. "This is a way to spark and rekindle in a safe environment where, if you're curious and open-minded, you can have some real fun." Stein is co-managing the show with his wife, Roslyn King. They have four children, and he says they're just a normal couple trying to help people have a good time. And that's exactly what people were there to do. Dave and Julia, both in their 30s, said they had never been to a sex show before. Waiting for a seminar on how to find the G-spot, Julia said they came out of curiosity. "We thought we'd check things out, especially the toys," said Dave. "If anything, I'm a little disappointed by the selection," Julia added, laughing. Ron, 55, said he was hoping the show would give him some ideas to spice up his sex life. "Shows like this are great, especially for someone my age," he said. "I'm always looking to try new things, and I'm hoping to go home with some great ideas tonight." There was no shortage of ideas, with seminars on everything from aphrodisiacs to lap dancing to tantric sex. "Tantric sex makes an experience that for some people lasts minutes into something that can last for hours," said Stein. "As we get older, that to me is far more interesting than a quick fix." Mariel Camilleri Saringer agreed that it's important to move beyond the basic ins and outs of sex if you want to keep your sex life interesting as you get older. Camilleri Saringer was at the show promoting a spa near Toronto which offers erotic massage workshops for couples, among other things. She said she couldn't believe the difference the course made in her sex life with her husband of 11 years. "In that erotic massage for couples course, there were couples that had been married for 30 or 40 years that were there learning new things. And I think that's what a couple really needs to do if they want to keep things vital and exciting - they need to be investing their time, effort and energy into making that happen." Dr. Guy Grenier, a psychology professor at the University of Western Ontario, says no one should be surprised that the sex industry is starting to focus more and more on older couples. "With the boomers coming up and getting older, I think we're going to see a greater demand for acceptance of older people being sexual," said Grenier, adding that no one should be offended by this. "If you just replaced the word 'sex' with 'tennis' - do you think it would be better if people could play tennis longer? Yeah. Do you think people should be more open about tennis? Yeah. Do you think we should teach tennis at younger ages? Yeah. If you just replace it with any other acceptable physical activity, that's the way it ought to be." But Stein said the stigma hasn't entirely disappeared from sex, and that's why shows like this are important. He said the environment of the show, which offers everything from sex toys to male exotic dancers to seminars on how to give better oral sex, helps people come out of their shells. "There seems to be comfort in numbers, and when there's a few thousand people on a show floor, the embarrassment goes out of it," he said. |
